Excellent Queen Anne highboy with elaborate carved double fans and incised design, c. 1770-1785, from Eastern Connecticut (Colchester area), cherry with poplar, pine and oak secondary woods. Other notable features are the rich color, excellent carved apron and beautiful sculpted legs. Condition: Conserved 50 – 75 years ago with restoration to drawer lips, some knee returns, and finial drops. Old brass. Provenance: Sothebys; Peter Eaton Antiques; private New York collection.
