Outstanding Spanish Colonial inlaid dome-top jewel box with intricate inlaid design on front, top and back sides, probably Guatemala, early 19th C. The excellent metalwork and overall impression looks back to post-Renaissance Western Europe boxes. The drawer on the bottom is secured with a drop-down wooden peg. The four turned feet indicate the early 19th C dateline. Condition: Several small inlay repairs; lock plate slightly loose; one foot probably replaced. Ht. 8"; W. 8"; D. 4".
