Very good small 6-drawer figured maple tall chest with pine and chestnut secondary woods, Rhode Island or Eastern Connecticut, c. 1760-1780. Notable features include chestnut backboard with the owner's initials and the date 1790, original Queen Anne brasses and compact size. Ht. 53"; W. 35 1/2" (case); D. 16 3/4" (case). Condition: Evidence of a darkened surface now removed to reveal a rich mellow color. Original drawer runners, a couple of old replaced glue blocks. Provenance: Old Western NY collection.
